Deciding to Homeschool

It’s been a while since I’ve written a true blog post and as another rise to homeschooling begins it’s time to get a few things out. Things that I think are important to think about when deciding to homeschool. So much is going on in the world! It’s enough for parents to say enough is enough. Pull their children out of the public school system and never look back. What we are witnessing is huge! We are in the mist of major historical events.

To list a few things on many people’s minds lately:

Forced mandates.

Religious and medical exemptions being ignored with a said vac-cine being pushed.

Pro- medical choice is being stripped away as vac-cine mandates happen.

Freedoms and rights being taken away/censored.

Terrorists coming back into power.

Many crimes against humanity are happening all over the world.

It’s enough to retreat and go off grid in protection of self and our families. But is that the answer? When I think back in history there were many horrible things that happened. Unspeakable horrible things…

Then I think about those who were the light during those times. Those who helped others and made a difference. Who stood up for what is right for all. When I look back on my life, can I say I did the right thing or did I just let it happen? Will you be a light?

We need to ask ourselves these things. It’s very easy to keep quiet and keep your head down. Stay in your lane. What does that accomplish for our future and that of our children’s?

In America we have so many luxuries and freedoms we take for granted daily. Many forget those haven’t always been there. It took people standing up for what they believe and dying for it. Are we going to let their sacrifice go to waste? They fought like hell for those freedoms. We need to as well, their future depends on it!

It is our God given right to protect our children and decide what is right for them! To raise them! They are entrusted to us by God! More than ever the future is in our hands. Will we shape the future for the Lord? Will we let it fall farther and farther away from him? It all starts at home.

America is a nation based on biblical principles. Even if you do not believe in God, those principles protect everyone! Love your neighbor as you love yourself. Living in a world that goes by these simple principles is what we need. For the true greater good. We need God. We need biblical principles. Our constitution is based off those principles and that’s why it has worked for some many years! We must uphold our constitution.

Homeschooling isn’t to be taken lightly. It is an enormous responsibility. One you have to work at each and every day. You will face challenges and struggles. Sometimes quitting isn’t an option. My suggestion is you take deep breaths, pauses when needed, and pray a lot for patience. It can drain the crap out of you -that’s honest! You have to ask yourself is it worth it?!

I encourage you to write out a list of whys. Why do you want to homeschool? Why are you homeschooling? The value has to outweigh the struggles you will face. That’s the key to accomplishing a home education. Asking yourself is the end goal worth it? To me it is worth more than anything else! My children mean everything to me and their ability to become their true self is priceless and irreplaceable! It’s what keeps me going these past 8 years of homeschooling. Knowing they are safe, learning and thriving!

Always remember it isn’t a sprint… It’s a marathon! They do not need to learn everything in one day or one year for that matter. It’s learning that happens over the course of years. Go at the pace you need to for them to truly grasp what they are learning. Many children get lost in the school system and it is near impossible for them to catch up because it’s a one pace fits all. Homeschooling is a personalized education. Allowing them the opportunity to learn without the standardization that the educational system imposes. Learning is so much more than just the school years!

Something I make sure is a goal in our homeschool is to develop lifelong learning. That desire to learn that never goes away. Even when they are adults. That they will still search for knowledge until their dying day. Something no one can take away from you is your ability to know, to learn, to teach. Education, true education is knowing that there’s so much more to life. Homeschooling gives you that freedom! It gives you the ability to raise people who will think for themselves!!! They can have logic, not just what we tell them! But to have discussions and truly be able to think for themselves! Teach them how to learn, how to ask questions, how to come up with conclusions. The list can go on.

Homeschooling is more than schooling at home. It’s learning through life. It regains childhood! It gives them the freedom to learn without labels, confinements, and pressures. It’s guiding them on the path to knowledge. Let’s face it, it also flat out protects them from things out there until they are ready to handle them. Children are vulnerable. Young adults know who they are. Gives them the opportunity to grow in a safe environment.

Yes some people shouldn’t homeschool because they do not provide that! If you can’t provide that for your child please don’t homeschool! Do the right thing for your children.

Something to always remember once our freedoms are taken, they are a hell of a lot harder to get back! Even if homeschooling isn’t for you something I want you to remember. It may not be for you at this time in your life, but what happens when the day comes that you will need it? Even if you are against it, it’s a right you never want taken away. If the day when you have no other option, but homeschooling to protect your child comes it’s an option you will want there! It’s a freedom worth fighting for! No matter what side of the fence you are. Will you keep quiet? Or will you speak out for what is right for everyone? Homeschooling is something that must be protected at all costs for everyone!

As you decide whether to homeschool or not. Weigh your whys. Asks yourself what do you want for them. If you need help figuring out how to get started please reach out. I don’t want to be quiet. I want to be a light!
